Real Madrid ‘offer’ £38m to complete Leicester City transfer
Latest Leicester City transfer news from LeicestershireLive brings what has been reported about interest in Caglar Soyuncu from Real Madrid as his contract continues to wind down.
Real Madrid have reportedly earmarked Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu as a potential summer signing according to reports.
Turkish media outlet Fanatik reports that Real are set to act on their long-term interest in Soyuncu by making an official approach for the player. It was claimed earlier this year that Real are keen on Soyuncu, who has also been linked with a move to their La Liga rivals Barcelona and Premier League giants Liverpool.
Soyuncu‘s superb form in the 2019-20 season prompted intense talk around his future but the Turkish international’s form dropped last season when he only made 19 starts in the Premier League. Injury to Jonny Evans and Wesley Fofana has opened the door to more action for Soyuncu this season with 26 starts under his belt so far this campaign.
Conversations need to be had over Soyuncu’s future with the 25 year-old out of contract at the end of next season.
This summer is the last window City could get a fee for Soyuncu, given that his status as a free agent next summer means he could negotiate a pre-contract agreement with an overseas side in January.
Only as recently as March did Soyuncu outline his wish to continue playing in the Premier League.
“Our performance as a team has not been at the desired level this season,” he told the Turkish media. “We’ve had a good period as a team in the past one-and-a-half months.
“Everything is going well right now and I’m happy to be playing. I am happy to play in the Premier League and I want to stay in England as long as I can – my contract continues.
“It’s very nice to play with top level players. I can be a better example to the young people after me, I can help more.
“I am getting good experiences and I want to pass this on to future generations in the coming years.”
